⚫︎ Stardew Valley is getting a 1.7 update after developer ConcernedApe revealed the news in a concert. He said that there's no specified or estimated release date just yet, but it is sure to come eventually. While this will definitely slow down progress on Haunted Chocolatier, it's not by a huge margin, for ConcernedApe is now working with a team to bring the haunted chocolate-y manor to life.

⚫︎ Following the announcement of its Switch 2 during the September 2025 Nintendo Direct, developer ConcernedApe has assured players that they will not need to re-purchase the game for the newest Nintendo console if they already own it on the original Switch. It will be a free upgrade for everyone on the day of release, except for those in Japan where he has cited that it "legally has to cost something, so it will cost the minimum possible amount."

⚫︎ Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone has said he plans to take on more of a creative director role for the upcoming 1.7 update, allowing his small team to handle much of the development while he focuses on his next project, Haunted Chocolatier.
In a Q&A posted to the official Haunted Chocolatier site, Barone acknowledged that the arrangement may cause “a little” delay for the new game, but “not as much as you might think.” He added that while he’ll eventually need to dedicate more time back to Stardew, his priority for now is pushing forward on his second title.

⚫︎ ConcernedApe recently went on the TigerBelly podcast to talk about all things Stardew Valley. During one of the topics, one of the hosts finally asks the developer a burning questions that has been on the minds of all players: how does one pronounce Mr. Qi's name? The gamedev answers that there isn't a correct way, and that anyone can use any pronounciation. However, he shares that he himself phoenetically says it as 'kwee.'

⚫︎ Stardew Valley creator ConcernedApe has shared his thoughts on Baldur's Village, a popular Baldur’s Gate 3-inspired mod for the farming sim. While he hasn’t played the mod himself—stating he generally doesn’t use mods when playing his own game—he called the project “cool” and expressed appreciation for the work of modders.
Baldur's Village recently returned after being mistakenly taken down, and has since gained popularity among players. ConcernedApe also highlighted his commitment to supporting modding, noting that update 1.6 was designed to make modding easier and hopes its features were helpful to the mod’s creator.

⚫︎ The "Baldur's Village" mod that received praise from both fans and the Larian Studios boss himself is in hot water after being issued a DMCA takedown by lawyers representing the Dungeons & Dragons company Wizards of the Coast. A day later, the takedown was retracted and called it "a mistake" and that they are now fixing the issue.

⚫︎ Stardew Valley received a recent major patch that added tons of new features and quality of life updates. However, it inadvertently caused a bug which many found amusing–chickens would go missing if left to roam around on the first day of the game. This led to the creator acknowledging the bug and giving an in-universe reason as to why it was happening before it gets fixed in a future patch. "There is a wild coyote on the farm day 1 rn."
