Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Switch 2 Release and New Trailer
Physical Version Includes Full Base Game on 64GB Cartridge

Sonic Racing CrossWorlds will release on Switch 2, and its physical version will feature the full base game on a 64GB cartridge. SEGA announced on July 16 on the game’s official website that CrossWorlds will launch digitally on holiday 2025, while its physical release will be in early 2026.
Despite the new trend of Nintendo using game key cards for physical releases, SEGA opted to include the full game on a 64GB cartridge, allowing fans to play the game without having to download it when they receive the copy. There will also be an upgrade pack from Switch to Switch 2 for $10, and it will carry over game progress.
The Switch 2 version will be included in the game’s cross-platform matchmaking, making the game accessible on all platforms. Unfortunately, the Limited Run Games Collector's Edition will not be available for the Switch 2. Nintendo will provide more information regarding the game’s Switch 2 release in future updates.
New Trailer Features Over 70,000 Unique Customization Combinations
Following the announcement of the Switch 2 launch, SEGA unveiled a new trailer that highlights the game’s customization and gadgets. In their latest uploaded video on July 17, the Sonic team featured CrossWorlds’ wide variety of combinations, spanning over 70,000 possibilities that give players the freedom to craft their personalized vehicle for racing.
"With over 40 vehicles, 70+ gadgets, and 100+ vehicle parts & decals, there are thousands of ways to customize and tune your vehicle," the video’s description read. Beyond the modifications, the game also presents gadget combos that will give players an advantage during races.
Players can use these gadgets to create their own sets to gain an edge, such as the Heavy Hitter Bounty set that obliterates competition using rockets to stop opponents in their tracks, the Air Trick Expert, which gives players flashy moves while in the air, and the Radio Spin Knockback, which knocks players off their path. All of these features will help players "strategize, build, and race their way to victory."
Exclusive Blue Star Machine for SEGA Account Holders

As part of the company’s promotion, SEGA is offering those who have SEGA accounts an exclusive machine for Crossworlds, the Blue Star. This hoverboard-like vehicle will be available as a SEGA Account Bonus for those who link their accounts to the platform where they will play CrossWorlds. This reward can only be claimed from September 25 until October 31.
With all the premium bonuses and rewards SEGA is offering, coupled with the upcoming crossovers with the likes of Hatsune Miku, Persona, Yakuza, and more, CrossWorlds is revving up to be the biggest title in the racing series to date.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is set to release on September 26, 2025, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch 2 release coming in holiday 2025. To stay up to date with the latest information on the game, check out our article below!
