Sonic x Shadow Generations was revealed at the State of Play January 2024. The game introduces an all-new standalone campaign for Shadow the Hedgehog, featuring a blend of Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic, and Shadow gameplay.
The game is expected to be released on PS4 and PS5 around September to November 2024.
Gameplay and Story
Sonic x Shadow Generations is a platformer action game that brings a remastered version of 2011's Sonic Generations, along with a new storyline for Shadow the Hedgehog that crossovers with the original story. The game boasts remastered versions of 2D and 3D stages from Sonic Generations with upgraded visuals and bonus content.
In this game, you get to play as Shadow the Hedgehog as he embarks on his own journey to confront his old nemesis, Black Doom, and dive into Shadow’s dark past to learn more about him and his motivations. Shadow is equipped with new powers, abilities, and Chaos Control. This rare ability enables Shadow to harness the power of a Chaos Emerald and lets him stop time and warp to new positions.
The story revolves around Sonic and his friends as their universe is thrown into chaos by a sinister force, creating ‘time holes,’ which take Sonic and his friends back in time. While in the past, Sonic encounters familiar faces, including a classic version of himself.
Sonic goes on to defeat enemies, save his friends, and discover who’s behind the havoc in their universe. Though rivals through and through, Sonic and Shadow team up to save the world from impending doom.
