Rise of Kong: A Massive $40 Disappointment
Skull Island: Rise of Kong is the latest game in the King Kong franchise, and it’s now widely panned by fans and gamers. With what fans consider as horrendous graphics and mediocre gameplay, this $40 game is now rated "Mostly Negative" on Steam. Unbelievably, this game was released on all major platforms on October 17.
Described as a 3rd-person action adventure, the game features the titular King Kong as he battles his way through Skull Island in a quest to avenge his parents from the "ultimate alpha predator", Gaw. However, social media users dubbed the game as "just bad King Kong beat-em-up."
Worse than Gollum?
Fans were quick to compare Skull Island: Rise of Kong to the Lord of the Rings: Gollum that was released earlier this year. Some netizens even said that this King Kong game makes Gollum look like a masterpiece. It’s worth noting that LOTR: Gollum was also widely panned and criticized for its outdated graphics and gameplay.
Twitter user @RickDaSquirrel captured this cutscene from the game, and Twitter users immediately expressed their distaste, with some ironically saying that it made them want to buy it. It’s safe to say that for all the wrong reasons, this King Kong game will become a meme, if it’s not one already.
