PokeZoo’s Trademark Countered by Nintendo

With all the buzz surrounding Palworld’s uncanny similarity to Pokemon, it’s easy to forget that many other companies have been trying to copy Nintendo’s golden boy for years. PokeZoo – an upcoming trading card game set to rival Pokemon’s very own – just got its attempts at trademarking its name opposed by Nintendo.

As flagged by GamesRadar, the knockoff TCG boasted "groundbreaking mechanics that break the 4th Wall" as well as a tie-in mobile app for trainers looking to "integrate into the summoned beast world" where they can fight other players.

PokeZoo Website Shuts Down Almost Immediately

With swiftness and impunity that the public has rightly attributed to Nintendo’s legal team, PokeZoo’s official website has been shut down. Official PokeZoo art has been taken off the internet, and the fate of the upcoming game’s company is currently uncertain.

It would seem that Nintendo is keen on keeping its promise of safeguarding the Pokemon brand from any infringements. The Pokemon Company recently stated that it would be "taking appropriate measures to address any potential infringement on Pokémon's intellectual property rights".

At the time, it was safe to assume that – though no names were named – they were talking about Palworld. That could still be true, though, if PokeZoo’s fate was any indication, Palworld isn’t the only game in their crosshairs.
