Pokémon Legends: Z-A Reveals Mega Dragonite in Gameplay Deep Dive

Pokémon Legends: Z-A trailer was finally unveiled, featuring footage of intense Pokémon battles, new evolutions, and gameplay mechanics never before seen in other mainline Pokémon games! Go head-to-head with Lumiose locals through the Z-A Royale, a Pokémon battle royale that will have players climbing from Rank Z to A to face off against even stronger Pokémon trainers.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A also marks the debut of the highly anticipated Mega Dragonite! While Mega Dragonite was the only new Mega Evolution revealed in the trailer, the looming conflict in Lumiose City might just bring us more Mega Evolutions. In the trailer, players were seen battling wild Mega Evolutions "gone rogue." To stop the wild Pokémon from wreaking havoc, it will be up to the players and the rest of Team MZ to quell their anger in fierce battles between Mega Evolutions.
For players who need a break from the Z-A Royale and the threat of rogue Mega Evolutions, Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be introducing more elaborate customization options, allowing trainers and their Pokémon to strut around Lumiose City in style. Various side quests will also be scattered throughout the city for players to find. Rake in more rewards and make the most out of your Lumiose City experience by interacting with the many locals!

Last but not least, the Pokémon Research Lab will have an even bigger role to play in your journey to becoming the top dog of the Z-A Royale. Mable, the acting director of Lumiose City’s Pokémon Research Lab, will be enlisting your help for her research. Catch different Pokémon found in Lumiose City and receive a wealth of rewards in exchange, such as Technical Machines (TMs) and Hidden Machines (HMs) to make your Pokémon even stronger.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be available for Nintendo Switch 2. Pre-orders begin on October 16, 2025.
Pokémon Champions Reveals 2026 Release Window

Pokémon Champions announced a release window of 2026, as well as revealing a sneak peek into its gameplay. The game is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch line and on iOS and Android devices.
The game will include compatibility with Pokémon Home, allowing players to freely recruit Pokémon for various engagements. Players will enjoy Single or Double Ranked Battles with other Trainers around the world through online play, or duel against your family and friends in Private Battles.
Pokémon Champions will also introduce an extensive but flexible and convenient mechanic for raising and training Pokémon that lets players enjoy battles at a greater level. Teach your Pokémon the moves that you find interesting with the quick touch of a button, and then train to make the most out of it!
New Reveals
Pokémon Friends, The Pokémon Puzzle Game, Now on Switch and Mobile!

Pokémon Friends is the newest Pokémon-themed puzzle game, now available to play on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android! Trainers can enjoy some fun brainteasers straight out of the world of Pokémon, which reward them with yarn. Earned yarn can then be fed through the Plush-O-Matic to create dozens of adorable Pokémon plushies!
These Pokémon plush toys can then be used to decorate their in-game rooms to their liking, along with options for customization with furniture and wallpaper to make it feel like home—or they can be used to help out the plush-loving residents of Think Town, who may send in some friend quests every once in a while.
With over 1200 puzzles to solve and 150 different Pokémon plushies to collect, Pokémon Friends is sure to make itself a relaxing staple in your daily life.
Pokémon x Aardman Collaborate in New Stop-Motion Series, Pokémon Tales

As revealed through a cute trailer featuring a Wooloo and our very active protagonists in the background, Pokémon and British animation studio Aardman (of Wallace and Gromit fame) bring in a new animated series, Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d and Pichu.
This new production with Aardman’s signature style will feature some "very special Pokémon front and center as the heroes of our show [...] set in a region which is very close to our hearts." It aims to give a unique view of the world, told from the perspective of the Pokémon themselves.
It is set to release sometime in 2027, so stay tuned for the tales of Sirfetch’d and Pichu coming soon!

Everything We Know About Pokémon Presents July 2025

The July 2025 Pokémon Presents digital event was officially announced back in May, sparking a wave of speculation about what the future holds for the franchise, especially with the upcoming release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A on the horizon.
While the spotlight is expected to remain on the highly anticipated title, the event may still hold a few surprises. Whether directly tied to Legends: Z-A or branching out into other areas of the Pokémon universe, here’s a look at what might be in store for this upcoming presentation.
Mega Evolutions Are Likely to Steal the Show

Since Pokémon Legends: Z-A was confirmed to take place in Lumiose City, speculation around the return of Mega Evolutions has steadily grown—initially a hopeful murmur among fans, and now one of the title’s defining features following the official announcement that many classic Mega Evolutions will return.
Looking ahead to the July 2025 Pokémon Presents, it’s highly likely the event will spotlight additional Mega Evolutions, whether brand-new or long-requested favorites that haven’t yet been revealed. While there’s no official word on which Pokémon will receive the spotlight, expectations are high that at least one new Mega Evolution will make its debut during the presentation, with hope held out for more.
New Updates, Content, and Merch for Pokémon’s Current Titles are Likely

In addition to spotlighting upcoming features, the July 2025 Pokémon Presents is also expected to deliver updates for the franchise’s ongoing live-service and mobile titles—an increasingly common fixture of these presentations.
Fans can likely look forward to new content or seasonal updates for games such as Pokémon TCG Pocket, Pokémon Sleep, Pokémon Café ReMix, and Pokémon GO. While a brand-new mainline title announcement is unlikely with Legends: Z-A taking center stage, these events often come with surprises, whether small additions or unexpected reveals that keep the broader Pokémon ecosystem active and evolving.
We’re Still Waiting on Pokémon Concierge Season 2 and Champions

With Pokémon Concierge Season 2 already confirmed for a September 2025 release, fans are eager for a more specific premiere date. The July Pokémon Presents would be a fitting opportunity to shine a light on Netflix’s charming stop-motion adaptation of the Pokémon world—even a brief update could build momentum as the release window draws near.

Meanwhile, Pokémon Champions has remained under wraps since its initial reveal during Pokémon Day 2025. Given the early excitement surrounding this upcoming title, the upcoming presentation would be the perfect time to revisit it with fresh details and give fans a clearer idea of what to expect from one of the most anticipated entries in development.

What is Pokémon Presents?

The Pokémon Presents event is a digital presentation format used by The Pokémon Company to share news and updates related to the Pokémon franchise. It was first introduced in June 2020 as a replacement for live events and traditional press conferences, particularly in response to the shift towards virtual announcements during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Modeled similarly to Nintendo Directs, Pokémon Presents showcases serve as a centralized platform for major announcements concerning the franchise. These can include new game reveals, updates on existing titles, mobile app developments, anime projects, merchandise, and anniversary celebrations.
While the frequency and length of these presentations vary, they are typically held at key points in the year, such as around Pokémon Day (February 27) or near major industry events like E3 or Gamescom.
