The Lion Awakens on TGA 2025
Phantom Blade Zero, the highly anticipated Wuxia action game, is set to reveal its release date at the upcoming Game Awards 2025 (TGA). As announced by the TGA’s official Twitter (X) on December 7, the kungfu punk RPG will have its world premiere announcement live during the awards show.
Captioned as "the lion awakens," TGA’s tweet was accompanied by a short teaser for Phantom Blade Zero. The video depicts Soul, the game’s protagonist, interacting with a lion dancer, who then quickly dances away and poses on top of fiery wooden poles.
The 20-second teaser then fades to black, before revealing that Phantom Blade Zero's release date will be announced during TGA 2025. This suggests that the reveal date announcement could also bring in new gameplay footage for the game, particularly the lion dancer boss battle.
First Revealed During PlayStation Showcase 2023

Phantom Blade Zero was first unveiled to the public during the PlayStation Showcase in May 2023. Developed by S-GAME, the project piqued the interest of many for its hyper-stylized "Kungfu-Punk" aesthetic, fast-paced action, and cinematic combat.
Following its reveal, the game was featured in several gaming events, including Summer Game Fest and Gamescom, allowing players to experience a glimpse of the action. Many who played its demos noted that Phantom Blade Zero resembled some elements of Soulslike games, but the developers adamantly referred to the game as a "Wuxia action."

S-GAME also stated that the game will have adjustable difficulty options, which further reiterates that it is not a Soulslike. Then, earlier this year, the studio released a trailer in celebration of the Chinese New Year, confirming that a release date would be announced later in 2025.
Furthermore, the developers also hosted the S-PARTY in China, where content creators and gamers from all over the world were invited to participate in an exclusive hands-on demo event. This led to a substantial amount of detailed footage and impressions being published online, showcasing extensive gameplay and exploration.

The community has high hopes for this new title, especially with the success of recent Chinese-based titles such as Black Myth Wukong and Wuchang Fallen Feathers. Regardless, fans of the game will only have to wait a bit longer for the game’s release date, as The Game Awards 2025 will go live on December 11, 2025.
