During the CAPCOM Online Program held on September 24, Onimusha: Way of the Sword gets a new trailer showcasing more of the game's narrative and characters surrounding the protagonist's journey as he takes on the Oni against his will.

⚫︎ The upcoming Onimusha: Way of the Sword will feature a more accessible story mode, but according to the developers, it’s not simply about lowering enemy stats.
In an interview with Denfaminicogamer, director Satoru Nihei explained that alongside reduced damage values, the mode introduces clearer UI prompts and more forgiving input timings. Producer Akihito Kadowaki added that the goal was to make signature mechanics like deflects and the Issen easier to perform, rather than just nerfing foes.

⚫︎ Capcom is showcasing Onimusha: Way of the Sword at PAX West, with a special panel scheduled for August 30 at 2 p.m. PT. The event will feature the first public look at a brand-new fight. Attendees can join the presentation live at the Main Theatre or tune in via the official Capcom USA Twitch channel.

⚫︎ Capcom has announced its lineup for Tokyo Game Show 2025, confirming showcases for Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The publisher will also feature mobile titles such as Monster Hunter Outlanders and Resident Evil: Survival Unit, alongside ongoing hits like Street Fighter 6 and Monster Hunter Wilds.
Next year’s Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is also set to appear. Capcom will share further details on playable demos at a later date, with a pre-recorded Special Program scheduled for September 24 at 7 AM PT.

⚫︎ Onimusha: Way of the Sword will steer clear of modern gaming trends like open-world exploration and Soulslike difficulty, according to director Satoru Nihei. In a June 19 interview with Automaton, Nihei clarified that the upcoming title is designed to expand on the core elements that made the Onimusha series stand out, emphasizing satisfying, violent action over punishing gameplay.
“It isn’t an open-world game, and it certainly isn’t a punishing die-and-retry game either,” Nihei stated. The game marks the series’ first mainline entry in 20 years.
