Octopath Traveler Unavailable on eShop Following Transition of Publishing Rights

Still Available on Other Platforms and Retailers

While there were no formal announcements made from either Nintendo or Square Enix, Octopath Traveler has been notably delisted from the Nintendo eShop. As such, Octopath Traveler became unavailable for purchase and download on Nintendo's storefront.

Initially launched and published by Nintendo as a Switch exclusive in 2018, Octopath Traveler garnered widespread acclaim for being an excellent Switch RPG with compelling turn-based gameplay mechanics and introducing Square Enix's unique HD-2D graphics style.

As noted in other reports, however, the publishing rights for Octopath Traveler underwent a transition in December 2023. Square Enix acquired full publishing rights to the title, taking over from Nintendo. This change was regarded as the reason behind the game's delisting from the Nintendo eShop.

Octopath Traveler remains available for purchase and download on other platforms such as Steam and Microsoft Store, as well as through various retailers like Walmart. Its sequel, Octopath Traveller 2—published and launched by Square Enix—was released on Steam last week.

The game takes place in the world of Solistia, a land divided by the sea into Eastern and Western continents, where players take on the role of eight new travelers from different regions. Explore a new era, use unique path actions, and choose your own adventure for each character.
