Nintendo Concerts Announced as Composer Koji Kondo is Inducted Into Hall of Fame

Nintendo revealed rescheduled dates for The Legend of Zelda Orchestra Concert and Splatoon 3 Deep Cut Concerts. Koji Kondo, Nintendo's in-house composer, was announced to be inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame.

Nintendo Announces Zelda and Splatoon Concerts YouTube Stream

Zelda Orchestra YouTube Stream on February 9, 2024

The Legend of Zelda Orchestra Concert and Splatoon 3 Deep Cut Concerts, which were originally intended for the canceled Nintendo Live 2024 TOKYO events, were announced to be streamed instead following the rescheduling.

The pre-recorded Zelda concert is set to be streamed on Nintendo of America's YouTube channel on February 9, 2024 at 5 am PT / 8 am ET / 1pm GMT, featuring tracks from the Zelda franchise, particularly the Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

Splatoon 3 Deep Cut Concert YouTube Stream on February 10, 2024

The Splatoon 3 Deep Cut Concert will be posted the following day on February 10, 2024. It will be available to stream on Nintendo's official YouTube channel.

Sales for concert merch have begun on the Japanese My Nintendo Store, running until February 5, 2024.

Koji Kondo Gets Inducted Into the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame

Presentation to Take Place on February 15, 2024

Koji Kondo, Nintendo's esteemed in-house composer, is set to be inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) Hall of Fame, as announced by AIAS. The presentation will take place at the 27th D.I.C.E. Awards Ceremony on February 15 in Las Vegas. The award ceremony will be livestreamed by IGN on February 15 at 8 pm PT / 11 pm ET / 4 am GMT.

Kondo, known for his iconic work on Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda series, expressed deep gratitude for the recognition and thanked those who have supported him throughout his illustrious career on AIAS's website.

"I am deeply thankful for being selected by D.I.C.E. for this important award. It is a true honor to be recognized in this way, and I am extremely humbled," said Koji Kondo. "Thanks to the help from the many people surrounding me and the support from our customers and fans, I was fortunate enough to be involved in game music development for decades. I am grateful for everyone who helped and supported me. I will continue my efforts in the music and sound aspects of development to hopefully make everyone’s game experience even more enjoyable in the years to come."

Kondo's musical contributions span decades and include iconic titles like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder. He currently serves as Nintendo's Senior Officer of the Entertainment Planning & Development Division.

Meggan Scavio, president of the AIAS, praised Kondo's timeless and impactful musical creations. The AIAS president wrote, "For over 39 years, he has delighted all of us in the industry with sounds and songs that are recognized by so many fans and became a pop culture phenomenon. We are honored to be able to induct Kondo-san into the Hall of Fame."
