Monster Hunter Wilds PC Benchmarking Tool Releases In Time for Open Beta Test Ahead of Launch

Monster Hunter Wilds added benchmark tools on Steam for players to test the game’s performance on PC. Read on to learn more about how to check the game’s PC performance!

Monster Hunter Wilds PC Benchmark Tool Released

Available on Steam To Test PC Performance

Capcom added Monster Hunter Wilds’ Benchmark tool for players to test out the game’s performance ahead of the game’s launch. This tool was added on Steam on February 5, 2025, a day after Capcom Spotlight, which also showcases new monsters, including the game’s flagship monster Arkveld.

According to Monster Hunter’s website, the “Monster Hunter Wilds benchmark is a free tool that uses a viewable experience from Monster Hunter Wilds to measure and score the performance of your computer.” There are six scores, indicating how playable the game is under the player’s PC specs. The scores are:

A Steam desktop application is needed to download this tool and it needs free 29GB of storage. However, the benchmark tool might not properly work if the computer does not meet the game’s minimum requirements. For those who passed the required specs of the game, they can finetune the settings in the tool to know the best performance setting for their computer.

The first beta test of the game last October and November 2024 was met with criticisms amidst performance and graphical issues. Some players saw low-poly characters and monsters, making the game appear worse than a PS1 game. Learning from their mistake, Capcom will launch a second beta test with improved performance. With the benchmark tool, players will know first if their computers can actually run the game.

Capcom Lowered Monster Hunter Wilds’ PC Requirements

Capcom first announced the benchmark tool on its German Twitter (X) account on January 19, 2025. In that post, they showed Monster Hunter Wilds performing better on PS5, using the game’s Prioritize Framerate mode on PS5.

Additionally, the post mentioned that Capcom is looking for ways to lower GPU requirements for PC players. “Performance will be improved in a similar way and we are looking into whether we can lower the recommended GPU requirements.”

The release of the game’s benchmark tools included updated PC requirements, featuring lowered GPU specs and a nearly halved storage size (from 140 GB to 70 GB). That said, the upcoming second beta test will put the new build of Monster Hunter Wilds to the test.
