MindsEye returns with a new 2026 trailer and its biggest post-launch update yet, as the action title continues to take shape following a rough 2025 debut. Here’s what the new update changes and what’s coming next.
MindsEye Reveals New 2026 Trailer and Major Update
Update 7 Improves Campaign Flow, UI/UX Systems, and Gameplay Stability
MindsEye released its "More Than It Seems" 2026 trailer on February 4, alongside a major new update detailed in an official press release, as developer Build a Rocket Boy continues working on the game following a difficult launch last year.
The 45-second trailer revisits MindsEye’s Redrock setting, showcasing cinematic shots and brief gameplay snippets of protagonist Jason Diaz. The footage highlights drone sequences, vehicle chases, and combat encounters, alongside interactions with other characters, including a robot. The studio also released an update that they describe as a "brand refresh and a step forward in overall polish," influenced by player and community feedback. The update focuses on smoothing campaign flow, making objectives easier to follow, and further refining AI behavior.
Among the changes are mission and design updates that improve navigation clarity, remove unfair fail conditions, and adjust encounter balance. UI and UX updates support this by increasing guidance visibility, improving Companion Drone Controls on PC, and adding clearer tooltips during key missions.

The update also includes changes aimed at overall feel and stability. Audio updates improve sound effects and add missing music to several cinematics, while visual changes include improved flesh impact and blood effects, as well as a reduction in default motion blur. Weapon handling and locomotion transition animations have been improved, and a wide range of bug fixes address interface responsiveness and other performance issues.
For those who got the Deluxe Edition, Update 7 adds the Silva E-Series, a standalone full street circuit city-center race in Redrock. It is now staged as a large-scale event with grandstands, barriers, and NPC spectators.
A “Catastrophic” Launch in 2025

MindsEye first launched in June 2025, and it was immediately met with widespread technical and structural issues. Players reported crashes, stutters, and inconsistent performance across platforms, with many noting instability even on higher-end hardware. While the game’s setting and visual direction drew some praise, reviews frequently criticized its mission structure, combat encounters, and pacing. Player response reflected those issues, with Steam player counts dropping quickly after launch and layoffs at Build a Rocket Boy beginning within weeks of release.
These issues are also reflected in our MindsEye review, which notes that "it could’ve been a decent game given its story and presentation," but ultimately criticizes the experience for "generic cover-shooter mechanics, awful voice acting, uninteresting character tropes, and a plague of performance issues," describing the final release as feeling rushed. There are also reports that Build a Rocket Boy is planning to end its publishing partnership with IO Interactive, the studio that published MindsEye. According to an Insider Gaming report from January 30, the decision to part ways is said to be driven by Build a Rocket Boy’s desire to bring publishing in-house and have more control over the game’s future, though neither company has confirmed the report. IO Interactive’s name is also absent from the latest trailer released.
What’s Next for MindsEye

In the press release, Mark Gerhard, CEO and CTO of Build a Rocket Boy, reiterated the studio’s commitment to continued post-launch development, saying, "We’ve listened, we’ve moved quickly, and we’re continuing to refine performance, make continuous improvements, and deliver substantial combat and gameplay enhancements."
The studio also confirmed that a new expansion is in development, expected to add end-game content, enhanced world exploration, and introduce a multiplayer mode within MindsEye’s ARCADIA.
