CEDEC 2025 Optimization Lecture Cancelled

Monster Hunter Wilds (MH Wilds) developers were set to hold a lecture regarding game optimization at the upcoming Computer Entertainment Developers Conference 2025 (CEDEC 2025) in Yokohama, Japan, but was cancelled due to the ongoing harassment issues the studio is facing. According to Automaton on July 7, Capcom announced that they called off the presentation for an unspecified reason.
The supposed lecture titled (machine-translated) "Making Monster Hunter Wilds run smoothly! Everything you need to know about optimization" would have focused on making games run stably and achieve high frame rates. It would have also tackled topics such as CPU load, GPU load, and memory usage.
Capcom may have likely cancelled the lecture as pushing through may incite more unwanted incidents online, considering the main issue of these attacks is due to MH Wilds’ poor optimization.
Ongoing Online Harassment Due to Poor Optimization
Since the game’s launch, fans have voiced their concerns regarding the game’s optimization, particularly on its PC release. However, recent comments and feedback from players have been more aggressive as the game received "Overwhelmingly Negative" reviews on Steam, which Capcom took notice of.
In a Twitter (X) post on July 4, Capcom revealed their initiatives to enhance game stability following the feedback fans have given. These include bug fixes caused by their recent Title Update 2, reducing CPU and VRAM usage, and other stability improvements.

Furthermore, they also posted on their official website on July 4 to address the harassment issues. Capcom emphasises the valuable voices of their customers and takes their feedback seriously as they continue to strive to improve their games. Unfortunately, they have noted several instances of threats, slander, and harassment across different review and posting sites.
As such, they have responded and have taken to effect the "Customer Harassment Response Guidelines." Capcom stated, "Based on the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's "Customer Harassment Countermeasures Corporate Manual", we may refuse support or services if the following acts that exceed the scope of socially accepted norms are confirmed."

They also mentioned that if cases escalate, they may be prompted to pursue legal action and criminal proceedings. These acts include slander, defamation, denial of personality, personal attacks, insults, threats of harm, threats of obstruction of business, and much more.
Beyond these countermeasures, Capcom remains committed to delivering the best MH Wilds as possible with their consistent rollout of updates. During Capcom’s Annual General Meeting on July 7, shareholders raised their concerns regarding the "insufficient content volume and optimization issues" of their recent titles.

Capcom assured them that the development team are carefully assessing the reviews and feedback from users. They stated, "We are committed to enhancing user satisfaction through measures such as future updates and will continue to act accordingly."
Although MH Wilds has enjoyed substantial success considering it is Capcom’s fastest selling game, its current status may see it fall from grace quickly. Monster Hunter Wilds is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. To stay up to date with the latest information on Monster Hunter Wilds, check out our article below!
