Marvel Tokon is Up for Pre-Orders on Steam and PlayStation 5

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls pre-orders are now live on Steam and PlayStation 5, with each of the game’s different editions now being available. However, the game is currently unavailable in select regions, most likely due to restrictions surrounding PlayStation Network availability.

Marvel Tokon’s Closed Off to Non-PSN Territories

Unfortunately, players in certain regions are unable to pre-purchase Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls on Steam because Sony requires a PlayStation Network account to play the game. While Marvel Tokon’s Steam page has been unavailable to even view in the 132 non-PSN territories (such as Pakistan, Vietnam, and the Philippines) for some time, the recent announcement of pre-orders for the games has all but confirmed its unavailability in these areas.
Despite being developed by Arc System Works, a studio that operates independently from Sony, the latter’s publishing rights over the game on PlayStation 5 and Steam explain its strict need for PSN integration. This move has been met with criticism from fans across social media due to the region-locking hindering the game’s accessibility across the world and being reminiscent of Sony’s past controversies during its integration with PC platforms.
Sony’s PlayStation Network Restrictions in the Past

Marvel Tokon’s region-locking is not an unprecedented move from Sony, who has handled their jump to PC with certain caveats concerning accessibility. For instance, single-player games such as Spider-Man 2, God of War: Ragnarok, and Ghost of Tsushima were all initially unavailable to purchase on Steam accounts in non-PSN regions, even after their initial release on PC, due to PSN availability.
These games were eventually made available on non-PSN Steam regions by removing the requirement for PSN altogether. Unfortunately, this was not the case for Helldivers II’s release on Steam, which eventually required players to link a PlayStation Network account in order to access the game. This caused players in non-PSN regions to be unable to access their copy of the game, sparking massive backlash from the community.

Fortunately, Helldivers II’s PSN restrictions on Steam were eventually reversed after immense backlash, with players also being granted a free cosmetic cape as compensation, but it remains to be seen if Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will be receiving the same treatment from Sony in the near future.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is releasing on August 6, 2026, for PlayStation and Steam. For more on the upcoming Marvel tag team fighter, check out our article below!
