Lords of the Fallen 2 Unveils Announcement Trailer at Gamescom 2025
Coming in 2026, With First Look at Gameplay Coming Later This Year
It's not a game announcements show without a new soulslike taking center stage, and for Gamecom 2025 ONL, that honor falls to Lords of the Fallen 2. Coming in as a direct sequel to 2023's sleeper hit soulslike, which itself was a reboot to a middling 2014 title, Lords of the Fallen 2 takes players back to the gritty world of Mournstead, only this time the world is splitting at its core, and the veil between life and death is beginning to blur.
The announcement trailer showcased a new protagonist, known simply as "e;the Lampbearer" for the time being, as they face off against what enemies and what is assumedly one of the game's bosses. The game has been confirmed for a 2026 release for the PlayStation 5, with an official gameplay first-look slated for sometime in 2025. Wishlists are now available.
Set A Hundred Years Later With Even More Lords to Fell
As confirmed by Geoff Keighley shortly after the announcement trailer, Lords of the Fallen 2 will be set a hundred years after the events of the first game. No longer trying to prevent the second coming of Adyr, Lords of the Fallen 2 appears to tell the story of a people abandoned by their gods at a crucial time in their history, with Mournsted crumbling around them as they undergo an epic journey.
CI games CEO Marek Tyminski already confirmed beforehand that Lords of the Fallen 2 would be unveiled at Gamescom 2025, although the game's active development had been common knowledge for much longer.
According to CI Games, Lords of the Fallen 2 aims to expand on everything fans loved about the reboot, leaning further into its punishing combat and mature dark fantasy atmosphere. The studio is promising a more aggressive combat loop, a larger variety of bosses, and an even deeper descent into the series’ signature brutality.
