League of Legends Hextech Chest Brought Back After Fan Feedback

League of Legends is bringing back Hextech Chests after receiving fan feedback. Read to learn more about the upcoming update and what’s next for LoL.

League of Legends Back Tracks on Their Unpopular Changes

Hextech Chests Are Coming Back

League of Legends (LoL) is returning Hextech Chests after receiving fan feedback. Riot Games posted a developer update on their website on February 27, 2025 where they detailed the upcoming updates they will roll out, along with a dev update video posted on their YouTube channel.

LoL acknowledged their recent changes were not what the fans sought, and stated "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."

One particular change that fans wanted to bring back was Hextech Chests, which LoL explained "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark."

With this, Hextech Chests are coming back starting in patch 25.05 where players can earn up to 10 chests and keys per act. 8 of those chests will come from the free pass and the other 2 can be obtained through their Honor system.

Exalted Morderkaiser Delayed and More Fan Feedback Changes

Riot Games announced that their upcoming skin Exalted Mordekaiser will be delayed as the team wants to "take more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." Furthermore, the entire Exalted skin line will be delayed, which means that fans won’t see one in every Act this year, which they originally planned to do.

Adhering to more fan feedback, LoL will also "be replacing one of the non Prestige ones with 25 Mythic Essence, given we’ve seen clear feedback that there’s both a lack of Mythic Essence on the paid Pass and that we’ve been doing more champions for each seasonal theme than makes sense."

LoL values fans’ accessibility in playing their champions, and due to the recent discussions regarding blue essence and champion shards, the game will be "lowering the Blue Essence cost for all champions by 50% as of patch 25.05."

Another decision that the developers want to backtrack is with Clash as they previously mentioned that they will be running Clash less often. Now, LoL brings back Clash’s monthly schedule and stated "March’s Clash event will be ARURF, then we’ll run a regular SR Clash in April."

Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Returns

LoL will also bring back fan-favorite shops as many have been asking for these features to return. Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium will come soon for their first runs this year, with Your Shop slated for 25.06 and the Emporium for 25.07.

Riot Games clarified "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments."

With their recent response, it seems Riot Games is constantly listening to their fans as they want to adhere to their feedback to create a game suitable for their audience. League of Legends is available for free-to-play on PC. Check out our League of Legends page for the latest information about the game.
