As reported today, the producers behind blockbuster movie "The Fall Guy," Kelly McCormick and David Leitch, are bringing Just Cause to theaters. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie adaptation of the infamous open-world action franchise will be directed by Angel Manuel Soto, known for his work on the "Blue Beetle" DC film adaptation.

Joining them are Story Kitchen's Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson, who have previously worked on successful video game adaptations like Tomb Raider and Sonic the Hedgehog. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal Pictures jumped at the opportunity to bring Just Cause to a broader audience due to recent successes with The Super Mario Bros. movie and Five Nights at Freddy’s, grossing over $1.4 billion and $290 million respectively at the global box office.

Just Cause first launched in 2006, introducing players to the high-octane adventures of Rico Rodriguez, a secret agent sent to a fictional island nation to overthrow a corrupt dictator. Developed by Avalanche Studios and published by Square Enix, the game quickly became known for its over-the-top action and explosions. The franchise has since seen three sequels, each featuring explosive action and expansive open-world gameplay. While the storylines have often taken a backseat, the games are celebrated for their chaotic fun and mayhem.

Details about the plot, cast, and release date for the Just Cause movie are still under wraps. However, fans can likely expect the same blend of high-octane action and larger-than-life stunts that have defined the series.
