Naughty Dog Drops Gameplay Capture Artist Job Listing
Naughty Dog, creator of the Last of Us and Uncharted series, posted a job listing on their website, which was hinted to be related to their upcoming sci-fi IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. The job listing is for a Gameplay Capture Artist to capture cinematic and gameplay content from a game.
While they did not confirm which of their upcoming games the job will be centered around, Naughty Dog’s Twitter account used a screenshot of Intergalactic as the publicity material for the listing. At present, it is also 1 of the 2 only IPs Naughty Dog confirmed to be working on, with both The Last of Us Part 3 and The Last of Us Online axed by the developer. Fans also speculated that the job would be fitting for an upcoming gameplay trailer release, given the current absence of gameplay footage for Intergalactic.
Lack of Gameplay Footage
Naughty Dog announced Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet during the 2024 Game Awards as their newest IP since The Last of Us series began over 12 years ago. Creative director Neil Druckmann revealed that the game had been in development since 2020. While the developer had kept hush about the gameplay for a while now, Druckmann promised that the game will have "the deepest gameplay in Naughty Dog’s history".
"This will be the deepest gameplay in Naughty Dog’s history, taking our learnings from our previous franchises and pushing them beyond anything we’ve ever done before," Druckmann shared on their official website.
Intergalactic will follow Jordan A. Mun, an interstellar bounty hunter, stranded on the distant and mysterious planet of Sempiria in the middle of a pursuit of a criminal syndicate. Druckmann, in Sony’s Creator to Creator podcast, revealed that the universe is set in an alternate 1986 where advanced space exploration is common. He also revealed that the game will explore "faith and religion".
