Hytale Opens With Massive Viewership
Most-Watched Game On Twitch
Hytale, the highly anticipated Minecraft-like sandbox RPG, became the most-watched game on Twitch after its successful early access release. According to TwitchTracker, during Hytale’s launch on January 13, the game peaked at over 444,000 viewers.
As of writing, the viewership of Hytale streams has gone down to around 90-100k, but it remains one of the most-watched games on Twitch. This is an unprecedented feat considering the game is still in early access and has undergone several cancellations and development changes over the past eleven years.
The successful comeback was also to be expected, as Hypixel Founder Simon Collins-Laflamme stated on Twitter (X) on January 12 that Hytale was anticipated to have over 1 million players during the early access launch day.
Although there is no concrete data available on the game’s player count, the buzz generated by Hytale on various streaming platforms is evidence that it is indeed a title that is played by many.
Launch Day Crashes, But First Hotfix Coming Soon
As with most popular and long-awaited titles, day-one issues are inevitable due to the massive surge of players trying to log in to the game. Hytale is no exception, as Hypixel developers are now gathering feedback to address the crashes that fans are currently experiencing.
In a Twitter (X) post on January 14, Hypixel Co-Founder and Technical Director Kevin Carstens notified players about the current issues the game is facing. The developers plan to collect as much information as they can with these bugs before releasing their first hotfix for Hytale.
Aside from the errors Carstens mentioned, fans are also commenting on their mishaps under the post. These include the slow distribution of login codes, being unable to download the game launcher, and other triggers that cause crashes.
Carstens gave out some quick-fix suggestions to temporarily alleviate their issues, but ultimately urged fans to submit their reports on the game’s official website so that the developers can address them in their first hotfix.
While Collins-Laflamme previously stated on Twitter (X) in November 2025 that Hytale is still "very much unfinished and broken," fans continued to show their unwavering support for the voxel adventure title. However, most recently, he announced that the game’s development cost is now secured for the next two years, thanks to players’ pre-purchases.
Collins-Laflamme also assured fans that he will remain committed to supporting and developing the game for at least ten years. Now that the game is live, Hypixel developers are doubling their efforts to ensure that Hytale is up and running until its eventual full release.
