More Harry Potter Games To Come After Hogwarts Legacy Success
22 Million Sold, 707 Million Hours Played, 819 Million Potions Brewed, and More
In an interview with Variety, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president David Haddad discussed Hogwarts Legacy’s overwhelming success and their plans to follow-up on it.
Hogwarts Legacy was 2023’s most successful game in terms of copies sold of around 22 million by the end of the year. “But it’s not just the unit sold that I’m so proud of, it’s just that it delighted the fans so much,” said Haddad. According to him, “It brought Harry Potter to life in a new way for gamers where they could be themselves in this world, in this story.” He added that this was what the development team set out to do.
In addition to the game having sold 22 million copies, Haddad laid out some more Hogwarts Legacy statistics. 707 million hours were spent in the game, with many fans replaying the game under a different Hogwarts house for a different storyline. 819 million potions were brewed, 1.3 billion magic plants were harvested, 593 million magical beasts were rescued, and 4.9 billion dark wizards were defeated.
Haddad discussed their plans to follow-up on the game’s success with more Harry Potter video game releases, including Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, a game about the magical sport that’s currently in its beta testing phase. Haddad hinted at even more games by saying “a series of other things” are soon to come. “We don’t have any particular announcements on exactly how and when [the Quidditch game] is going to come to the market, but we are working to get it designed in a way just to delight fans,” says Haddad.
