2B From Nier:Automata’s Unexpected Entry Into GBVSR, Arriving in February 2024
Fans of the recently-released 2.5D fighting game were stunned with the announcement of beloved gaming protagonist 2B from Nier:Automata joining as the second playable DLC character. The trailer above reveals her introduction to the series, seamlessly adapting to the game’s artstyle where she flourishes while in action. In combat, she’ll be armed with her katana, Virtuous Contract, to slice her opponents. In addition, she’ll also be utilizing her YoRHa android powers, abilities, and equipment to fight the opposition.
No exact date has been given for when she’ll be available, but the end of the trailer states it to be around late February of 2024, with a confirmed DLC price of $7.99.
Lucilius Arriving to GBVSR in January 16, 2024
Before the announcement of 2B that shocked fans, Lucilius was also formally made known as the game’s first playable DLC character. Brandishing metal vambraces and greaves, he strikes his opponents ruthlessly. He also has his two swords, Sword of Repudiation and Sword of Renunciation, floating behind to ready to swiftly attack at opportune times.
He will be available for purchase on January 16, 2024, for the price of $4.99. Please be advised that the full standard version of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising will be required to purchase these DLC. Having the free version alone does not allow the purchase of DLC characters.
GBVS Future DLC Content Roadmap
Last but not least, GBVSR has revealed on a Twitter(X) post the game’s upcoming roadmap planned throughout 2024. For its planned playable DLC characters, Lucilius and 2B take the spotlight in January and February respectively, with later new characters Vane and Beatrix planned for April and May. Mystery characters for August and October are also teased. With the reveal of 2B, fans worldwide will no doubt be speculating whether these new characters could be returning Granblue Fantasy characters, or perhaps new surprise entries from other well-known franchises.
Other than new characters, tons of other content are also planned. A new stage, new in-game features, and an update to the game’s online lobby (alongside an online lobby minigame) are to be unveiled throughout 2024. New game modes such as “Grand Bruise!” are also tentatively planned. Lastly, new bonus story content is scheduled to be added.
