Four years after its debut on PS4, Sucker Punch's epic Ghost of Tsushima has finally made its way to PC, courtesy of Nixxes Software, last May 16th. Initial reviews of the port have been positive, highlighting significant enhancements over its console counterpart, especially in terms of graphics and performance.

Nixxes, known for its prowess in porting games to PC, has leveraged its expertise to offer players a nuanced experience with Ghost of Tsushima. The port boasts a robust settings menu that allows players to customize their experience on the fly, without the need for restarts. Dynamic resolution scaling, advanced upscaling technologies including FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR 3) and Deep Learning Super Sampling 3 (DLSS 3), and improved frame generation contribute to a visually stunning gameplay experience.

However, the port is not without its challenges. Eurogamer has reported issues with fluidity and smoothness, particularly concerning a camera movement discrepancy and Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) Express bandwidth saturation, which may affect frame-time performance. Additionally, memory-constrained graphics cards may experience sporadic performance drops, highlighting the need for better Video Random Access Memory (VRAM) management.

Despite these setbacks, Ghost of Tsushima on PC offers significant visual upgrades over its PS5 counterpart. Cutscenes running at arbitrary frame rates provide a smoother viewing experience, while modern upscaling solutions enhance image quality, surpassing the limitations of checkerboard rendering on the PS5.

Notable improvements include enhanced foliage level of detail (LOD), superior shadow quality, and upgraded screen-space reflections on PC. However, texture quality remains a point of contention, with minimal differences observed between the PS5 and PC versions.

Overall, Ghost of Tsushima's PC port represents a commendable effort from Nixxes, delivering meaningful graphical enhancements while maintaining the essence of the original game. As players delve into the lush landscapes of Tsushima on PC, they can expect a visually captivating experience, albeit with some technical considerations to keep in mind.

With continued support and potential updates addressing performance issues, the PC version of Ghost of Tsushima stands as a worthy addition to any gamer's library.
