Rebel Wolves Confirm Dawnwalker is in Alpha Stage of Development

It’s not every day that you get to hear rumors being confirmed, but today is one of those days. Rebel Wolves on Twitter (X) shared their first concept artwork for its upcoming AAA title, Dawnwalker, along with wallpapers available for download. They clarified that the logo is still a placeholder and subject to change.

Rebel Wolves also confirmed that Dawnwalker is a AAA dark fantasy RPG and has officially entered the alpha stage of development, with more information and updates to come this year. The studio was founded by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the Game Director for The Witcher 3, and is joined by former CDPR veterans like Mateus Tomaszkiewicz.

Narrative-Focused Dark Fantasy RPG to be Released in 2025

As we had reported before, the game is set to be a dark fantasy, seemingly set in medieval times. Many of the Rebel Wolves’ devs were part of the team that worked on The Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine expansion. Our previous article explains that: "The scope of Dawnwalker is expected to be similar to The Witcher 3's Blood and Wine expansion, where the bloodsuckers are a central theme."

With a name like “Dawnwalker,” the game could potentially revolve around vampires, werewolves, or something of the sort. It could also be about a special sort of hybrid vampire who can walk among the living during the day. Or a werewolf who is able to shift part of himself in the day, who knows?

Based on the wallpaper that Rebel Wolves shared, the focus seems to be on the lone person escaping from what seems to be dark tendrils. The lone person was shown to have a strange-looking and sharp left hand (possibly hinting at claws) while wielding a sword on his seemingly normal right hand. Additionally, the logo or insignia placed above the person looks like a scale with the sun and the moon as the weights on each side. This could potentially hint at an RPG alignment mechanic in the game, or an allusion to the balance between night and day, or, light and dark.

Of course, everything I’ve written about the game is based on pure speculation, and as a big open-world RPG enjoyer myself, I can’t wait to find out more about Dawnwalker.
