Duet Night Abyss Stable Monetization and Pre-Registration Updates
Removing Gacha Benefits for Both Players and Developers

Duet Night Abyss (DNA) removing gacha is beneficial for both players and developers, according to the game’s producer. In an interview with Automaton during Tokyo Game Show 2025, DNA Producer Deca Bear discussed the reasoning behind their decision to remove gacha mechanics in the game, and how it benefits everyone.
Developer Pan Studio announced during the game’s global launch livestream on August 28 that DNA will be removing its gacha mechanics. Since then, another highly anticipated anime title, ANANTA, also stated that it will also not have gacha mechanics for its characters.
Fans rejoiced at both games’ shift in direction, considering they offer high-quality gameplay and visuals. However, despite the community praising the studio’s bold decision, many were wary of whether this model would be successful.

Deca Bear assured players that their team is dedicated to establishing a solid monetization model that benefits both players and developers. He stated, "Of course, we have the same concerns. But that is why we’re working hard on bringing both our content and our services to a satisfactory level."
While the previews for DNA have been well-received by the community, Deca Bear said that they will continue to add more content to the game, keeping it fresh and engaging for the players. They will also consistently uphold the game’s high quality, providing players more reason to support it.
Deca Bear stated, "To explain why we don’t need a gacha system – by providing players with paid content like skins and character outfits, we’ve already established a solid monetization model." He also mentioned that this model will make the game newcomer-friendly, which will further expand the DNA’s playerbase and community.

So far, more players are inclined to try out the game due to the changes made, which are geared towards DNA being user-friendly. Even before removing the gacha mechanics, the game’s closed beta was highly praised due to its story.
Here at Game8, we thought that, based on its closed beta, DNA is heading in the right direction for its deep narrative and high-quality visuals. However, the game still needs to polish its gameplay to reach its full potential. To know more about our thoughts about the game’s closed beta, check out our article below.
Over 10M Global Pre-Registrations
DNA continues to reach more players, exceeding its pre-registration milestones. In a Twitter (X) post on September 30, DNA announced that the game has over 10,000,000 global pre-registrations, reaching all the milestones they have set.
Because of this, players will receive a plethora of rewards on the game’s launch, which include x20 Pristine Hourglass, Dragon of Fantasy - Liuliu, x50,000 coins, in-game character Berenica, x1 Trapped in Bed, x5 Commission Manual II, and x6 Iridescent Dye. Players can also obtain an extra 5 Pristine Hourglass when the global official SNS followers reach over 5.2M.
Duet Night Abyss is set to be released on October 28, 2025, on mobile devices (iOS and Android) and PC via Epic Games Store. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below!
