Duet Night Abyss Removes Gacha Mechanics
All Characters and Weapons Free to Unlock

Duet Night Abyss (DNA) just held its global launch announcement livestream on August 26, and in a sudden turn of events, developer Pan Studio revealed that the game will no longer have gacha mechanics.
Initially, DNA was a free-to-play fantasy adventure RPG that features a gacha system where players obtain characters and weapons through banners. According to Pan Studio, this will no longer be the case as all characters and weapons can be unlocked for free through in-game grinding.

Additionally, the game also removes its stamina system, giving players more freedom in farming dungeons so that they may feel "no pressure to optimize efficiency." These changes were implemented after the developers received feedback from the community following the game’s second closed beta test.
Fans were shocked by the decision, but were ultimately glad that the developers are giving more to the players. Discussions about these changes blew up the GachaGaming Reddit, with some even joking that the game shouldn’t even be in the threads anymore since it is no longer a gacha.
The Question Remains: Is it Sustainable

Despite shifting in a direction that adheres to the community, some are concerned about whether this model is sustainable for the game. The developers later confirmed that monetization for the game will revolve around purchasing cosmetics.
Meanwhile, fans have long compared DNA with another popular free-to-play action game, Warframe, for its combat and fast-paced gameplay. With the latest announcement, these comparisons are pushed even further as both titles offer a free-to-play system that focuses on unlimited grinding.

Compared to Warframe, however, DNA does not have a marketplace for players to earn premium currencies by trading items. In Warframe, this premium currency is used to obtain cosmetics, additional inventory slots, accelerate progress, and trade.
Players utilize the marketplace as a means to acquire premium currency by trading rare parts and mods without spending any real money. Fans hope that DNA also adapts this structure so that the game can achieve the same success as Warframe.
Launching on October 28

Beyond the huge transition of the game’s progression and systems, Pan Studio also announced that DNA will be launching on October 28. Pre-registration is now available on the game’s official website, App Store, and Google Play Store.
The game is currently running a pre-registration campaign, offering various in-game rewards to players who sign up before the official launch. Each milestone met will add more bonuses that fans can receive in the game. These rewards include the following:
● 1M Pre-Registers - Pristine Hourglass x5
● 3M Pre-Registers - Dragon of Fantasy - Liuliu
● 5M Pre-Registers - Pristine Hourglass x5
● 8M Pre-Registers - Coin x50,000
● 1M Pre-Registers - Berenica x1
● 1M Pre-Registers - Pristine Hourglass x10, Trapped in Bed x1, Commission Manual II x5, Iridescent Dye x6

As of writing, there are over 5,000,000 global registrations, reaching halfway through the pre-registration goal. Players can also obtain an extra 5 Pristine Hourglass when the global official SNS followers reach over 5.2M.
It is important to note that the rewards may change following the game's shift from its gacha system. There are no official updates regarding the possible changes to these rewards as of the moment.
Why the Sudden Change?

While Pan Studio noted that the change came about after its Closed Beta Test, they did not specify an exact reason for the sudden shift in mechanics. Fans speculate that it’s because the gacha community is currently dominated by big games such as Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves, as well as upcoming titles like Neverness to Everness, Chaos Zero Nightmare, and others. This may have prompted Pan Studio to take a leap and divert itself from the genre, opening up more opportunities for them to explore.
Regardless, fans are excited and happy by the latest announcement, and hope that this new approach will lead to the game’s success. They also wish that this system would be applied to other gacha titles so that players can enjoy those games without having to break the bank.
Duet Night Abyss is set to be released on October 28, 2025, on mobile devices (iOS and Android) and PC via Epic Games Store. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below!
