Capcom Plans to Revive Classic, “Non-Core IPs” Through New Games, Ports, and Remakes
Possible New Games for Devil May Cry, Mega Man, and Ace Attorney

Capcom is reportedly planning to revive dormant franchises such as Devil May Cry, Mega Man, and Ace Attorney, in an effort to expand their user base. In their 2025 Integrated Year-End Report, the company outlined their business strategy for the foreseeable future and highlighted certain IP they could use to "consistently produce world-class content."
In the report, the company notes that they "own a wealth of globally popular brands, such as Mega Man, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney," and have stated their goal to "expand our user base and improve our performance through new releases, remakes, and ports of titles in these series to new hardware." However, they didn’t make any particular announcements for new games or ports for these franchises in the report.

The company has also stated that their main focus would be mapping out brand-new installments, updates, and remakes for their "core IPs," or franchises which Capcom has seen to be the most popular; those being Street Fighter, Resident Evil, and Monster Hunter. Furthermore, Capcom is also focusing on the creation of brand new games IPs on the latest hardware, focusing on their multi-platform release strategy such as Resident Evil: Requiem’s day 1 launch on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Capcom does assure fans and shareholders, though, that the goal for the aforementioned IPs would be to grow them into core IPs, similar to Street Fighter, Resident Evil, and Monster Hunter. This news comes as a small bit of hope for fans of these franchises, all of which have dedicated, passionate fanbases, as it shows that Capcom is paying attention to their dormancy and their potential for growth.
Capcom is Sitting on a Gold Mine Right Now

As one of the most prolific game developers in history, Capcom has a plethora of game franchises and IPs that have fallen by the wayside. Therefore, the company's recent mention of these dormant IPs as points for future growth has been widely welcomed by fans.
The silence around Devil May Cry, for instance, is notable considering the relative success of its recent Netflix anime adaptation and the announcement of 10 million units sold for Devil May Cry 5.

Their other IPs, such as Mega Man and Ace Attorney, have also received little in terms of new additions despite their passionate fanbases. Mega Man is receiving a collaboration with Sonic Crossworlds Racing as well as the release of the the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, while Ace Attorney saw the release of the Ace Attorney: Investigations Collection last year.
With this latest report, the company seems to be aware of the potential that their expanded catalogue of IPs can bring towards further growth, and have at least signalled to fans that there is an intent to utilize them. For now, though, the company seems to be focused on promoting and updating their core IPs.
Capcom’s Future Seems Steady

Capcom is currently focusing on the release of Resident Evil 9: Requiem, which is steadily approaching its February 27, 2026 release date. The game has been regularly promoted through commercials and interviews, with a brand new trailer for the game being set to release at The Game Awards on December 11 at 4:30pm PST.
Monster Hunter Wilds has also received a ton of new updates, from the addition of new cosmetics and bosses to collaborations with Street Fighter 6 and Final Fantasy XIV. The amount of new content added to the game has prompted the game’s director to ask players to return to the game, noting the relatively low difficulty during the game’s launch,

In addition to this, Capcom is working on a new IP named Pragmata. The sci-fi third-person shooter, is Capcom’s first original franchise in 8 years and is set to release sometime in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows.
