⚫︎ Valve has released a self-described “small update” for Deadlock’s closed beta, one that quietly overhauls laning and income. Troopers now drop both halves of their souls, forcing players to manually collect everything and fight for wave control. Healing troopers no longer heal; they drop a medic pack instead, increasing skirmishes around wave clears.
Nearly every hero also received tuning, with a few standouts, like Mirage gaining the ability to warp to friendly objectives with his ultimate.

⚫︎ Valve has revealed Deadlock’s latest character, the Doorman, who joins the roster with abilities themed around doors, luggage carts, and bells. His standout skill, Doorway, functions much like Portal’s gun, letting players and most projectiles travel between two connected doors. His ultimate teleports enemies to a void hotel where they must complete a platforming challenge to escape.

⚫︎ Even with complete radio silent from Valve’s more official channels, save for the game’s official community Discord server, the title has been completely silent since its soft reveal. However, even then, it has maintained top position in Steam’s Most Wishlisted ever since.

⚫︎ Deadlock has implemented NVIDIA Reflex, a feature that can reduce a game’s latency speed for competitive games. Provided that players are using GeForce RTS GPUs, their latency in Deadlock can be reduced for up to 45%.

⚫︎ Over a month after the game’s first major update comes the biggest change in the meta the community has seen, wherein the game’s previously unique 4-lane game was changed to a traditional 3-lane setup, similar to other MOBAs such as League of Legends of Valve’s own DOTA 2.

⚫︎ Deadlock’s first major update for the new year introduced four new heroes under a separate experimental queue where the temporary heroes were playable.

⚫︎ As the new year approached, the game’s dev team correspondent and public facing figure, known as Yoshi within their community discord, revealed that the team will not pulling back the frequency of major updates, and will instead deliver bigger patches with longer gaps in between.

⚫︎ A Deadlock developer posted on Twitter(X) about his use of the generative AI ChatGPT to aid in the game’s process, particularly where he discovered an algorithm that the team eventually utilized for the game’s matchmaking.

⚫︎ After months of the rumors circulating pertaining to Deadlock’s existence, Valve officially acknowledged the game by publishing a public storepage. However, at the time, they had no formal announcements regarding it.
