Dead by Daylight Day 2024 Kicks Off With Fan Art Highlights
Dead by Daylight (DbD) Devs React to Japanese Player Community's Fan Art
Officially coined as "Dedoba no Hi" (デドバの日), Dead by Daylight Day is a community-oriented anniversary event that started in Japan in 2019 that brings together DbD's avid fan community in celebration of the popular online horror game. With Dead by Daylight Day 2024 kicking off today, the DbD team at Behaviour Interactive has released a series of special videos to express their gratitude to Japan's community who have shown their love and support to DbD since its release in 2016.
"It has been a great pleasure for me to travel the world with Dead by Daylight and meet fans in various places. Among them, the Japanese community is full of fun and passion, and I am truly happy to see such support from such enthusiastic Japanese fans," DbD game director Mathieu Côté said in a press release.
On top of their messages to fans, the DbD team also shares their reaction to a variety of cosplay and fan art created by members of the Japanese Dead by Daylight community. From specially crafted dolls—as well as set pieces of locations—to Chibi Art reinterpretations that show a cuter side of the horror game, Japanese DbD fans showed how truly impressive and passionate they can be. "Make a book out of this and send it to me please," Côté even said about a fanmade illustration that reminded Product Director Rose Li and Senior Creative Director Dave Richard of the "Where's Wally?" puzzle book.
Capping it off, the Dead by Daylight management staff extends their personal messages to the Japanese community, with Broadcast and Events Manager Gabrielle Malvar expressing her gratitude in Japanese and encouraging everyone to enjoy and celebrate Dead by Daylight Day 2024.
"Thank you so much for being with us these last 10 years, on taking this journey with us," Côté said. And to add a bit of suspense in true DbD fashion, Côté leaves fans with a teaser: "We have some really, really cool stuff we're gonna be announcing very soon that I think our Japanese fans will be especially excited about!"
The really, really cool stuff DbD has in store is still "in the fog," but since its release, the game has collaborated with legendary games and media franchises to create masterpieces of horror, so we just have to keep a watchful eye out as always!
