Featuring Multiple Cities

Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel, codenamed Project Orion, aims to expand the original game with another location alongside Night City. During Digital Dragons 2025 on May 20, R. Talsorian Games founder and game designer Mike Pondsmith shared some updates regarding the sequel.

While Pondsmith isn't as deeply involved in the upcoming game as he was with 2077, he noted that he's still tracking its development. He stated, "I see the scripts. Last week I was wandering around talking to different departments and seeing what they had like, ‘this is the new Cyberware, what do you think?’"

Furthermore, he claimed that alongside the returning Night City, another city is being developed. "I remember looking at it and going, ‘I understand the feel that you’re going for, and this really does work, it doesn’t feel like Blade Runner, it feels more like Chicago gone wrong’. And I said, ‘yeah, I can see this working’," Pondsmith revealed.

Meanwhile, CD Projekt Red (CDPR) posted new job listings for Cyberpunk 2 earlier this year. One of the openings is for the Lead Encounter Designer, which entails the person to "help formulate solutions for and help create memorable gameplay encounters that will thrill and excite our players."

Most notably, the job looks to be involved in creating something revolutionary in the game industry. According to one of its daily responsibilities, they will "Work in close collaboration with the systems design team to create the most realistic and reactive crowd system in any game to date."

Not much information has been revealed for Project Orion, but based on the details shared by Pondsmith and CDPR actively looking for talented individuals for the game, Cyberpunk 2 looks to build upon its predecessor’s amazing world-building and intricate storytelling.

New Footage for Cyberpunk 2077 Switch 2 Port

In other news, CDPR released new footage of Cyberpunk 2077’s Switch 2 port, featuring how the studio did its best to optimize the game for Nintendo’s upcoming handheld console. Over at CDPR’s website, they uploaded several B-roll videos of the game running on Switch 2 that total around 37 minutes.

Based on several reports during Nintendo Switch 2’s showcase events in New York and Paris earlier this year, Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2 had performance issues, particularly in frame drops. According to Business Insider, Cyberpunk 2077 is "Such an intensive game playing on the Switch 2 is a fun novelty, but this definitely isn't the best way to play CyberPunk. I encountered lots of frame drops."

However, CDPR Engineer Tim Green told Game File on April 25 that so far, they have been happy with the result of the port. He stated, "We haven’t had to fight with fitting into memory, and the speed of the data storage has helped alleviate some of those early streaming problems. This has allowed us to focus our attention on improving other things, and we’re very happy with the result."

Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is set to be released on Switch 2 on June 5, 2025. It includes the full base game, all the updates since its launch, and the critically-acclaimed Phantom Liberty expansion. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below!
