Cyberpunk 2077 Clears the Air on Cryptic Tweet
No DLC or Update Coming
Cyberpunk 2077 fans have been busy cooking up theories of DLC and updates after the game’s official Twitter (X) account posted a cryptic message September 1st, prompting CD Projekt Red to follow it up with a reality check.
"Just FYI, this isn’t any sort of announcement or reveal about new content coming to the game," the tweet read. "It’s part of an activity tied to the Phantom Liberty anniversary we’re celebrating this month."

Aside from the typical wishes for another DLC or major content update, some popular fan theories on what’s waiting on the other side of the teaser also include the addition of a New Game+ mode, more details on the now-confirmed sequel, or just another simple photo contest. With how decisively CD Projekt moved to quell any unnecessary excitement, the truth likely lies in the latter.
Fans Aren’t Buying It

While the game already had its "final" update back in July, this wouldn’t be the first time CDPR walked back the supposed finality of their dystopian sci-fi RPG. The game’s Phantom Liberty expansion and the accompanying 2.0 overhaul back in September of 2023 were supposed to signal the end of the game’s updates as many of the game’s developers had been moved away from the title.
Since then, CD Projekt Red has released three more updates, optimizing the game even further, giving players new vehicles, and adding a slew of quality-of-life improvements and minor features. So, naturally, players just aren’t taking CDPR’s word for it anymore.
"I don't believe it. There is always something more with you guys," one fan responded, with several others echoing the sentiment.
Hopefuls online have even gone as far as to dissect senior community manager Amelia Korzycka’s tweet regarding the tease, which read, "All I can say is it's not the DLC and it's not the patch."
Because Korzycka referred to the potential DLC or update as "the" DLC and "the" patch, fans quickly concluded that both already exist. Alas, Korzycka left nothing to interpretation when pressed further on whether or not another expansion was in the works by simply replying, "No."
Cyberpunk 2077 and the Phantom Liberty expansion are currently available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. For all the latest on the CDPR title, check out our article below.
