Borderlands 4 Was Announced at Gamescom ONL 2024
Releasing 2025
Borderlands 4 is officially on the horizon. The long-awaited sequel was unveiled at Gamescom's Opening Night Live, confirming its release sometime in 2025.
While the teaser trailer didn't offer much in terms of gameplay, it's clear from the game's Steam page that Gearbox is staying true to the series' signature looter-shooter style: "See if you have what it takes to go down in history as a legendary Vault Hunter as you search for secret alien treasure, blasting everything in sight."
Borderlands 4 has been teased numerous times before its official reveal. Last July, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford hinted at a new game in an interview with TheGamer, "I think people that love Borderlands are going to be very excited about what we're working on." Just last week, Pitchford further fueled speculation by tweeting that they are diligently working on the next installment.
"The team and I at Gearbox have a lot we've wanted to do with Borderlands since we first introduced the looter shooter genre to the world with our original game," Pitchford said in a press release with Business Wire after the game's announcement. "All of us at Gearbox have massive ambitions for Borderlands 4 and are putting everything we have into making everything we love about Borderlands better than ever before while taking the game to new levels in exciting new directions."
As to what these directions are, fans would just have to wait and see. For now, players can wishlist the game on Steam. Stay up to date with Borderlands 4's release date and time by checking out the article below!
