Aster Tatariqus Ends Services For Good

Gumi's Perceived Poor Decisions Believed to Have Led to Aster Tatariqus's Shuttering

As announced on its official Japanese Twitter (X) account, Aster Tatariqus ends its services and ceases operation as of September 30, 2024. "As of 3:00 PM on Monday, September 30, 2024, Astarataricus will be terminating its service," the announcement read. "We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of our customers for their patronage."

Months prior to this announcement, Aster Tatariqus relayed information to its fans about the cancellation of the development of the game's global launch. "We are sorry for the sudden nature of this announcement and that we are unable to bring this game to you, our worldwide audience," the Aster Tatariqus team shared in July.

The fantasy tactical RPG, by developer Gumi, had initially launched last August to favorable reception among the gacha gaming community. While Aster Tatariqus received criticism for the execution of its gameplay, the game's story and visual presentation were aspects that sat especially well with fans. "This game have high quality only to suffer from numerous bad decisions and have no real direction, its a pity really," one fan commented regarding Aster Tatariqus' end of services.

Earlier in the year, Gumi announced a 5.934 billion yen net loss (approximately US$37.74 million) and consequently asked around 80 of its staff members to voluntarily retire or resign. The company cited the poor performance of Aster Tatariqus, its then-main game title, as well as a recorded additional loss of 2.8 billion yen (approximately US$17.79 million) in software impairment, as the main factors for the company's multimillion dollar net loss.
