ARC Raiders The Expedition Project Updates
Pushed Back To December 17
ARC Raiders’ first Expedition Project is delayed to December 17. As announced on the game’s official Twitter (X) on December 7, the expedition wipe will be pushed back for two days, allowing players more time to prepare for their next adventure.
The Expedition Project is an optional in-game event that functions as a seasonal progress wipe and prestige system. It allows players to voluntarily reset their progress in exchange for permanent and temporary rewards.
To participate, players must first collect and contribute a considerable amount of resources (metal parts, wires, advanced components, etc.) and Coins across multiple stages. When a player departs for the Expedition, everything tied to their current Raider's progress is reset, including their level and skill tree, stash (all items are contributed), workshop and crafting abilities, and blueprints.
Permanent Unlocks and Temporary Buffs

Those who opt to leave Speranza and join the Expedition will earn perks and rewards to jump-start their progress for the next season. These rewards include the following:
Permanent Unlocks:
● The Patchwork Raider outfit
● Scrappy Janitor Cap
● Expeditions Indicator icon
● Skill points (depending on Stash value)
● +12 Stash space
Temporary Buffs:
● 10% repair buff
● 5% xp boost
● 6% more materials from Scrappy

The Expedition Window will be open from December 17 to December 22. Players must sign up during this period, as everyone will depart simultaneously on the 22nd.
Furthermore, players are encouraged to continue grinding until the final day of departure to increase the value of their Stash and Coins. Those who opt not to depart for this expedition will have their progress preserved, allowing them to keep working until the next window opens.
An Experimental Solution To Mandatory Wipes

The Expedition Project is Embark Studios’ solution to the notorious and often controversial progression wipes that online multiplayer games undergo, usually at the end of each season. In a blog post on the ARC Raiders' official website on October 9, 2025, Design Director Virgil elaborated on how progression wipes will work in the game.
He prefaced the explanation by noting the value of mandatory global wipes and stated, "Just to make it clear, we absolutely see the benefits a global wipe provides. Veteran players can experience the game fresh, the economy is reset to the baseline, and all players have about the same level of capabilities. At least for a little while."

Virgil then pointed out, however, that mandatory wipes are detrimental to the experience of players, as they do not respect the investment of those who have poured hours of their time into the game. As an attempt to alleviate these concerns, the developers have come up with the concept of the Expedition Project.
According to Virgil, the expedition wipe will keep the game fresh regularly, with players obtaining some benefits, and allowing them to keep moving at their own pace. The developers acknowledge that it is not a comprehensive solution and will not achieve the clean break associated with a mandatory global reset; however, it aims to be more equitable to all players.

Embark Studios continues to bring more updates to the popular sci-fi extraction shooter, maintaining its status as one of the top three most-selling and most-played games on Steam. Moreover, the developers look to add more content to the game, as ARC Raiders' 2025 roadmap confirms the Cold Snap update will arrive this month.
ARC Raiders is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below.
