The exact cause of the problem was not disclosed, but players have noted that it occurred following yesterday's game update and the introduction of a new season split. Some speculated that it may have been related to cross-progression features.

Developers at Respawn Entertainment took to Twitter (X) to provide an update addressing the issue. They assured players that they had rolled out an update to fix the problem, preventing further loss of progress or content for accounts logging in now. However, for players still impacted by the bug, Respawn said they are currently working on an additional fix to restore accounts to their pre-update state.

In addition to this, players were already disappointed when Apex Legends faced a hacking incident in the middle of the ALGS tournament. The event was eventually postponed.
