New Assassin's Creed Game To Come Out A Week Early

Ubisoft: AC Mirage Has ‘Gone Gold’

Assassin’s Creed fans rejoice! The newest installment in the series, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, is coming out a week early, Ubisoft announced through the game’s official Twitter (currently known as X) page on Wednesday. The game was originally set for release on October 12, 2023, but this has been pushed up to October 5, 2023, instead.

According to Ubisoft, AC: Mirage has "gone gold," which is a term used to indicate that development on a game is done and it is ready to be shipped to stores and sold. Ubisoft’s last AC game was Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla in 2020, so this should come as good news to those who have been waiting two years for a new assassin adventure.

Assassin’s Creed: Mirage takes place in the streets of Baghdad in the 9th Century, during the Islamic Golden Age. Here, you play as the street urchin Basim Ibn Ishaq, who has been recruited by the Hidden Ones - the progenitors of the Assassin Brotherhood. For those who have played AC: Valhalla, Ishaq is one of the characters in that game, so Mirage will give us a closer look at the Master Assassin’s early days and rise to prominence.

Unlike Valhalla, Ubisoft has said that Mirage’s gameplay will return to the series’ original core concepts of stealth, blending in with crowds, and parkour in a dense open-world city, with direct combat being more of a last resort. Instead, this homage to AC’s roots encourages you to take your enemies by surprise.
