Pikmin 4 has captivated gamers' attention. Set in an intriguing environment populated by enigmatic creatures known as Pikmin, players go on an exciting adventure on an undiscovered planet.

Famitsu just announced the physical game sales chart for the week ending July 23, and the numbers were astounding. Pikmin 4 entered the Japanese market triumphantly, breaking the sales records of its predecessors and taking the top spot on the chart.

Pikmin 4's Remarkable Debut

Pikmin 4 arrived with a bang, selling over 400,000 units in its first week. To put this feat into context, consider the sales performance of previous Pikmin releases. According to Famitsu’s chart data, the original Pikmin sold 101,299 units in its first week. Pikmin 2 sold 161,930 units and Pikmin 3 sold 92,720 units at its initial release. However, Pikmin 3 Deluxe, which was released for the Nintendo Switch, sold higher than Pikmin 3 for WiiU.

It's worth noting that the sales figures, as previously stated, only account for physical copies and do not include digital sales. Nintendo, the Pikmin series' publisher, has yet to release the number of digital copies of Pikmin 4 sold during its first week. Therefore, it is reasonable to believe that the number of copies sold for Pikmin 4's first week far exceeds the reported 400,000.

Pikmin 3 Deluxe's Standout Performance

The best-selling game in the series up until the release of Pikmin 4 was Pikmin 3 Deluxe. Pikmin 3 Deluxe, a Nintendo Switch re-release of the original Pikmin 3, demonstrated its ongoing appeal and garnered praise by selling an incredible 171,349 physical units in its first week.
