Star Wars Outlaws Creative Director Goes Into Detail at SDCC 2023
As the first open-world Star Wars game, Star Wars Outlaws has been described by Creative Director Julian Gerighty as “an opportunity to have players step into the world of Star Wars.” Gerighty went into detail about the game with StarWars.com at a dedicated panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2023.
In the same conversation with StarWars.com, Gerighty added that Star Wars Outlaws will let players discover and direct the experience the way they want to. A new behind-the-scenes video was showcased at the convention, offering first looks and information about several different areas of the game.
The video also dove into the creation of this 'scoundrel fantasy' world. The Massive Entertainment team introduced Toshara, a new moon, and its main city of Mirogana, a new urban location built from the ground up with the goal of making a world that feels alive and grounded.
Star Wars Outlaws Creative Director Said Food Will Be Important in the Game
According to a transcription of the San Diego Comic-Con 2023 panel by IGN, Gerighty concluded the panel with a vague hint at two potential mechanics that will be in the game: “There are a couple surprises I don’t want to spoil. There is a particular predator on Toshara that is mind-blowingly cool. So if you have a fear of frogs, this might not be the game for you,he warned forebodingly.
It’s okay, it’s very rare."
"The second thing is that food is incredibly important to the world of Star Wars. And if you enjoy food and discovering alien concoctions, this is going to be an exciting experience for you.”
The statement may be interpreted as a tease of a cooking feature coming to Star Wars Outlaws. The world of Star Wars has its own cuisine and it will be interesting if recreating these food and 'alien concoctions' will be part of the experience for this game that promises players a lot of agency.
