Special Room and More Exclusively for Switch 2
Deltarune will have a Switch 2 version as announced during the latest Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2. In this release, the game will include chapters 3 and 4, alongside some exclusive features for the next-gen console.
According to a Fangamer newsletter by Deltarune developer Toby Fox, the Switch 2 version of the game will include a unique room that will make use of the mouse functionality of the new Joy-Cons. Fox stated, "So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!!"
For players who have non-Switch 2 devices, the unique room will still be available, albeit having a completely different control scheme. Additionally, players can import their save files from the Nintendo Switch demo of Deltarune 1 and 2 to the new version.
Deltarune Future Chapters Will Be Free
Included in the newsletter, Fox confirmed the price tag of Deltarune, which will cost $24.99. The game will include Chapters 1 and 2, with the new releases of Chapters 3 and 4. Chapter 1 was first released in 2018, followed by Chapter 2 in 2021. Both chapters were free, but it was previously announced several times that future Chapters 3-5 would be paid content.
However, Fox announced that upcoming Chapters will be added as free updates. This means that players would just need to buy the game once, and future Chapters would be given for free. He stated, "But, it's my hope that as we complete more Chapters, you'll feel like this game was a super super super super good deal."
Additionally, the game’s soundtrack will be available on Steam for $14.99. The upcoming release of Chapters 3 and 4 will include over 150 songs. Furthermore, songs from future Chapters will also be added for free. Deltarune looks to give fans a game that makes every penny worth it by giving future Chapters and content free.
