In a recent interview with Famitsu, Takumi Shun, the director of the original Ghost Trick, Shingo Izumi, the producer, and Atsushi Maruyama, the director of the Ghost Trick remaster, shed light on the remarkable journey of the beloved puzzle-adventure game. The conversation revolved around the game's resurgence and the role of passionate fans in bringing it back to life.

A petition among fans eager for a port of the game had gained momentum around the time of the original Ghost Trick's 10th anniversary. Yuki Kaji, renowned for his portrayal of Phoenix Wright in the Ace Attorney series, mentioned to Director Takumi that he had attempted to revisit the iOS version of Ghost Trick after a long while, only to find that it no longer worked.

Intrigued by this, the director decided to try the game and, to his disappointment, discovered that it failed to function correctly. This prompted him to reach out to Hironobu Takeshita, the producer of the original version, to inquire about the possibility of resurrecting Ghost Trick.

When the interviewers asked producer Shingo Izumi about the role of passionate fans in motivating Capcom for the game's revival, he confirmed the significance of their voices. He revealed that in 2020, during the game's 10th anniversary, numerous requests flooded in, advocating for a port or remake of Ghost Trick.

Remarkably, these requests garnered a resounding first place in Capcom's polls, far surpassing others. While acknowledging that fulfilling every fan request isn't always feasible, Izumi emphasized the undeniable impact of the fans' unwavering enthusiasm in breathing new life into the title.

Takumi chimed in, recalling that the idea of a Ghost Trick reboot had initially emerged in 2004, shortly after the release of Ace Attorney 3. However, due to their focus on the Ace Attorney franchise, the development of Ghost Trick had been put on hold for several years, causing it to remain frozen.

It became evident that the passionate voices of the fans had not only rekindled interest into Ghost Trick, but also showcased the enduring power of community-driven passion. The resurrected classic promises to captivate seasoned fans and new players as they embark on a thrilling journey through a realm where death is just the beginning.
