$45 Million Prize Pool At The Largest Gaming And Esports Festival
Gamers8 Club Rewards Will Encourage Even Fiercer Competition
To encourage more teams to diversify their game profiles, the Saudi Esports Federation has announced a new reward format called the "Gamers8 Club Rewards." It will be introduced at Gamers8 2023, targeting esports teams participating in at least two competitions throughout the festival. The points a team can earn will depend on their success during their matches, which would result in additional rewards and opportunities. Gamers8 Club Rewards aims to encourage further expanding participating teams' lineups of games and foster even fiercer competition. This is a win for viewers, as a more competitive scene means more entertaining matches.
"This latest announcement illustrates our commitment to realize esports' full potential and provide development opportunities for all as the industry's evolution unfolds," said Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan, Chairman of the Saudi Esports Federation. "As the world's elite esports champions return to Gamers8 to battle it out for glory and global supremacy, they do so knowing that this new concept will elevate competition, broaden gamers' horizons, and open up a whole new world of possibilities over the coming years. We are incredibly excited to finally share this exciting news and look forward to trialling this game-changing format in the summer."
Although this might not affect the current lineup of titles and the participating teams much, this still serves as a glimpse of what the future will hold as teams from around the world vie for the rewards and opportunities they could earn through more investment. Once the ball gets rolling, we can expect much more explosive matches in the following years, especially if other gaming events pick up this incentive.
"Gamers8 Club Awards is an incredible opportunity for clubs to look at tournaments from a holistic view rather than an individual team view and play influential roles in the development of their clubs and the global esports sector. There is no better stage than the world's biggest gaming and esports festival to launch such a format, and we can't wait for July when all the action begins."
Featured Titles
The following titles are confirmed to be making an appearance for Gamers8's tournaments, and their respective prize pools:
- Fortnite, $2,000,000
- Tekken 7, $1,000,000
- Rainbow Six, $2,000,000
- DotA2 (Riyadh Masters), $15,000,000
- Starcraft 2, $500,000
- CounterStrike: Global Offensive, $1,000,000
- Rocket League, $2,000,000
- Street Fighter 6, $1,000,000
- Rennsport (ESL R1), $1,000,000
More games are expected to be announced, just like Street Fighter 6, which was added to the lineup a couple of days ago.
With $45,000,000 committed to the prize pool, The Land of Heroes has broken the record The International 2021 set a few years ago with their $40,000,000. This is doubly more impressive when you consider that The International 2021's base prize pool was just at $1,600,000, with the rest of the money coming from crowdfunding through the game's Battle Pass sales. On the other hand, The Land of Heroes' prize pool had only jumped once, going from $30,000,000 from their initial announcement to the current amount.
What is Gamers8?
Gamers8 is the world's largest gaming and esports festival. Organized by the Saudi Esports Federation, the event enjoys massive support in both funding and infrastructure, with a purpose-built state-of-the-art facility at Boulevard Riyadh City. Despite already achieving a successful event during 2022 with over 1.4 million visitors, 139 million viewers, and 113 competing international teams, the SEF aims to make 2023 even bigger by investing three times the amount of money it did in 2022 as a prize pool for its tournaments.
