2XKO Roster Update and Setting Expectations
Teemo Comes With Early Access Launch
2XKO will be adding the swift Yordle scout Teemo alongside the game’s early access release. As revealed by Riot Games on September 30 on their social media accounts, 2XKO brings the leader of the Bandle Scouts on October 7, 2025, bumping the game’s roster size to 10.
Teemo’s announcement arrived alongside his gameplay reveal trailer, which showcased the lovable Yordle’s skills and abilities. His fighting mechanics resemble his set-up-based playstyle in League of Legends (LoL), which is widely feared and annoying for the LoL community.
This includes setting up mushrooms on the stage, spawning and hiding behind bushes, and shooting out poison darts. The video capped off with 2XKO’s rendition of the famous "Evo Moment 37," or better known as the "Daigo Parry."

The Daigo Parry was an iconic moment during EVO 2004, where pro player Daigo Umehara made an unexpected comeback against Justin Wong during the Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike tournament. When Umehara was at the brink of defeat, he made consecutive parries against Wong’s Super Attack, which created an opening for him to gain the victory.
In Teemo’s gameplay reveal trailer, the fearless Bandle scout also parried his way to win, countering Vi and Jinx’s Super Attacks. The video even had a lobby full of users cosplayed as Teemo cheering for his victory, which is a nod to the crowd’s reaction during the Daigo Parry moment.
Riot Shuts Down 2XKO Deconfirmed Character Rumors

While the community celebrated Teemo’s gameplay reveal trailer, some fans are worried that a character that appeared in the video may be a sign that they may not be included in 2XKO in the future. As spotted by multiple players, the trailer, which featured a new stage, showed a familiar figure in the shadows who closely resembles another Yordle character.
Based on the given appearance, fans have concluded that this is Kennen, a ninja who patrols the spirit realm. His inclusion as a background character led players to believe that he may not be added to the 2XKO roster.
These rumors quickly spread online, which was addressed by Lead 2XKO Champion Designer Alex "Blinkity" Jaffe. In a Twitter (X) post on September 29, Jaffe replied to a fan’s tweet where they stated that Kennen is the first "deconfirmed" champion based on his appearance as a background character.
The lead designer noted that "No champ is ever deconfirmed - truly!," debunking the deconfirmed rumors. Another fan asked whether his comments mean that Kennen is coming to the game, to which he replied, "lol nope."

Due to the stature of Yordles being so small, fans were curious about how the developers would implement them in the game, or whether they were to be included at all. With Teemo confirmed, this opens up the possibility of other Yordles and small (or even big) champions being added to Riot’s fighting game.
Despite 2XKO’s thin initial roster, fans who got lucky with the Closed Beta invite have played the game countless times, awaiting the game’s early access launch and eventual full release. Here at Game8, we thought that 2XKO implemented qualities of a good fighting game based on its presentation and features. 2XKO Director Committed To Try Everything

2XKO has been on everyone’s radar since it was first revealed as "Project L" in 2019. Although it has been a bumpy ride since then, with fans doubting it will even launch due to its long development period, the 2XKO team is committed to delivering a fighting game based on League of Legends that the community will embrace.
As reported by Games Radar on September 28, 2XKO Game Director Shaun Rivera spoke on Edge Magazine’s latest issue about setting up fans’ expectations on the game. He said that he is both "excited" and "terrified" about the game’s upcoming early access launch as he expects it to be "a little bumpy."

Rivera admitted that the team will make mistakes, but remains fully committed to addressing fan concerns. He stated, "We're the type of team where we want to try stuff. Sometimes it's going to land and sometimes it's going to whiff, but we will be trying things. I want to set those expectations for players that something we try might go wrong or it might not be good, but we'll address it."
The game director also mentioned that they do not have the benefit of building upon past games, which means every champion and stage they make is from the ground up. "We're making our champions from scratch, and we're learning as we make them... we've got a lot of champions at various stages of development down the pipe that I can't wait for people to see and play," Rivera stated.

The early access launch for 2XKO will open the game to everyone, giving the wider community a chance to try it out. This release will also introduce Season 0, combo trials, and the latest addition to the roster, Teemo.
2XKO will open for early access on October 7, 2025, for PC. It is set to be released sometime in 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Riot Games client. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below!
