Paradox Interactive to Delay Console Release Until Spring 2024
More Time Needed for Quality
The official Cities: Skylines Twitter account announced in a tweet that the console release for Cities: Skylines 2 will be delayed.
Cities: Skylines 2 was officially revealed earlier this year, with its official release date later announced as October 24, 2023 for the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PC players can rest easy, as the new release date applies only to the console versions of the game, which are now expected to be released in spring 2024.
“We realize that we need more time to reach the quality targets we’ve set for the console,” Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive said in an official statement regarding the delay. “The additional time allows us to focus on matching the quality and performance across all platforms,” the companies added in their FAQs.
Console Pre-orders to Be Refunded
All console pre-orders are being automatically refunded, Paradox stated on its official FAQ page on the delay. While digital pre-orders are being handled automatically, anyone who had a physical pre-order is advised to contact the retailer they placed the order with to make sure they are refunded accordingly.
