Warside Overview

Warside is a turn-based tactical game from LAVABIRD and First Break Labs, set to launch on PC on April 14, 2025, with console releases (PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One) slated for sometime this Summer 2025. Echoing the aesthetics of titles like Advanced Wars on the Game Boy Advance, Warside features a single-player campaign with over 30 missions set across varied landscapes—from forests and deserts to icy regions and wastelands. These missions include classic battles, escort and rescue operations, and stealth objectives, all within a story-driven framework.

Players can choose from 14 Commanders, each with unique passive skills and Battle Powers—abilities that could turn the tide of battle. Warside also boasts over 25 unit types, including ground, air, and sea forces. Moreover, a built-in mission editor allows players to create and share custom single-player and multiplayer content.

Warside Gameplay

Warside is a turn-based tactics game where players command units across diverse terrains in single-player campaigns and multiplayer battles. Similar to most—if not all—tactics games, gameplay in Warside emphasizes positioning and the utilization of unit types, which include ground forces, aircraft, and naval units. Players select from a roster of Commanders, each possessing unique passive skills and Battle Powers that can influence the course of a battle. The game’s design, as described on its official website, prioritizes "fluid skirmishes" and aims to discourage defensive "turtling" strategies. This is achieved through "stalemate breaking units" that can threaten frontlines.

Warside features a built-in mission editor, which allows players to create and share custom maps and scenarios for both single-player and multiplayer modes. The developers have also confirmed cross-platform multiplayer support, allowing players on different platforms to compete against each other.
