Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 (or simply Bloodlines 2) is an action role-playing video game released on October 21, 2025. Developed by The Chinese Room and published by Paradox Interactive, it is a sequel to the 2004 cult classic Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. The game builds on the lore of the World of Darkness universe, a gothic setting where vampires secretly coexist with humans under the rules of the Masquerade—a code designed to keep their existence hidden.
The game is set in a modern-day Seattle teetering on the edge of crisis amid fragile vampire politics. The overarching vampiric power structure, especially the Camarilla, is weakened, Elders have disappeared, and rival vampire factions are vying for control and influence. The player character is Phyre, a 400-year-old Elder vampire who awakens from torpor into this changed world. Phyre awakens marked in a way that has locked away their Elder abilities, and throughout the game the player alternates between Phyre in the present day and Fabien, a Malkavian detective whose voice echoes in Phyre’s mind.
Bloodlines 2 retains much of the role-playing flavour of its series but shifts certain mechanics and places greater emphasis on storytelling. Players select one of six vampire clans (Brujah, Tremere, Banu Haqim, Ventrue, Toreador, Lasombra) at the start, which determines which vampiric abilities or "Disciplines" are available. Dialogue plays a central role, with choices affecting faction relationships, reputation, and how characters respond, although features like traditional skill checks, inventory-based approaches, or some of the more granular RPG systems from the original seem to have been scaled back or removed.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is built around action-RPG mechanics viewed mostly through a first-person lens, with occasional shifts to third person during certain animations or interactions. Players control Phyre, a vampire whose gender, appearance, and clan allegiance can be selected.
As Phyre levels up, new powers such as Blood Curse, Possession, Recall, and Hypnosis become available. These can often be combined in creative ways. Blood is the resource that fuels these abilities, and players must feed on human characters to replenish their supply.
