Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree Overview
Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree, an action roguelite title from developer Brownies and publisher Bandai Namco, was released on September 19, 2025. The game takes place in the mystic realm of Shinju Village, where players take on the role of Towa, a child of the gods, who must lead a group of Prayer Children
to defeat the malevolent god Magatsu and return mana to their village.
It features fast-paced isometric combat with a unique Quick Draw
system that requires players to switch between two swords. A relationship-building system allows players to deepen bonds between characters, which in turn strengthens their abilities. The game's most unique mechanic is the Sacrifice
ritual, where one guardian is permanently sacrificed at the end of a successful run to restore mana to the village.

The core gameplay of Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree is a roguelite loop where players choose a Tsurugi (attacker) and a Kagura (spellcaster) to clear procedurally generated dungeons. The game's key features include a dual-character combat system with a sword durability mechanic and a permanent character sacrifice system upon successful completion of a run.
Players must strategize by using the right combination of characters and abilities to defeat enemies and the dungeon's boss. Outside of runs, players can enhance their characters through crafting, dojo training, and relationship-building to prepare for future challenges.
