The Blood of Dawnwalker Overview
The Blood of Dawnwalker is an upcoming dark fantasy action role-playing game developed by Rebel Wolves and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It is the first chapter in a new saga from Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by former CD Projekt Red game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz.
Set in a reimagined 14th-century Europe, the game unfolds in the fictional kingdom of Vale Sangora, nestled within the Carpathian Mountains. Here, vampires have emerged from the shadows to overthrow feudal lords and establish their dominance during a period when humanity is weakened due to wars and the Black Death.
Players assume the role of Coen, a Dawnwalker—a being straddling the line between human and vampire, day and night. Coen is granted 30 days and nights to either rescue his family or seek vengeance against his creator. The game gives players the freedom to approach missions without a clear division between main and side quests. Coen’s dual nature as a Dawnwalker means that his abilities and the narrative outcomes vary depending on the time of day.

The Blood of Dawnwalker Gameplay
The Blood of Dawnwalker is a third-person action RPG with direction-based combat. Swordplay involves choosing among four strike directions to outmaneuver enemy guards, with parrying requiring similar directional input. Combat builds activation charges to power special actions, such as placing blood-boil hexes on enemies, and can culminate in cinematic finishers.
Abilities are split across three skill trees: Human, Vampire, and Shared. During the day, humans access ritual-based magic using runic conduits with real costs, typically draining health or consuming resources. By night, vampiric powers activate, which enable enhanced physical attacks and transformations. Managing blood becomes essential, as low blood triggers loss of control and may close off quests.
Time is a resource in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Players only have 30 in-game days and nights to achieve their objectives. Each task advances time, with no explicit distinction between the main and side quests. Despite this structure, the developers emphasize that the game does not impose a hard time limit, so players need not feel rushed while exploring.
