Gears of War: Reloaded Overview
Gears of War: Reloaded is a remastered edition of the original Gears of War from 2006, and released on August 26, 2025. It marks the franchise’s first appearance on platforms beyond Xbox, including PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The remaster is developed by The Coalition, with support from Sumo Digital and Disbelief.
Reloaded revisits the story of Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad as they battle the emerging threat of the Locust Horde on the embattled planet Sera. All content included in the 2015 Ultimate Edition—such as an additional campaign act, multiplayer maps, modes, characters, and cosmetics—is restored and integrated with this remaster at no extra cost. Players can experience the narrative solo or in co-op, either via split-screen or online.
Although the core third-person, cover-based action remains faithful to the original, the campaign now runs at 60 FPS, with multiplayer reaching up to 120 FPS, along with 4K resolution, HDR, variable refresh rate (VRR) support, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, remastered textures, lighting, shadows, and reflections. Loading screens have been entirely removed during campaign transitions, as well.

Gears of War: Reloaded replicates the core mechanics of the original third-person, cover-based shooter. Players engage in tactical combat by using cover systems—sliding, vaulting, or moving between cover to avoid enemy fire or expose themselves to strike—while managing health regeneration and the risk of incapacitation. The game includes the well-known "roadie run" sprint mechanic for quick dashes during firefights.
Gameplay extends into cooperative and competitive multiplayer formats.
