Call of Duty: Warzone Overview
Call of Duty: Warzone is a discontinued free-to-play battle royale shooter game developed by Raven Software and Infinity Ward and published by Activision, released as a separate mode of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) but later became a standalone title. The game was released in 2020 for Windows PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and serves as the second main battle royale installment in the Call of Duty franchise. Warzone subsequently launched a mobile version, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, on March 21, 2024.
The game revolves around large-scale gameplay, where players get dropped onto the battleground and engage in first-person shooter (FPS) combat to survive and become the last Operator or Squad of Operators. While it's free-to-play, Warzone offers in-game purchases, such as cosmetics, weapons, and battle passes.
Warzone's servers effectively shut down on September 21, 2023. As announced by Activision, the game is discontinued to focus on development on Warzone 2.0.
