Airborne Empire Gameplay

Image

Airborne Empire’s core gameplay focuses on constructing, managing, and expanding your own airship-turned-flying city. As its builder and overseer, you’ll be responsible for maintaining defenses by constructing specialized buildings, increasing its size to allow for further expansion, and sending explorers to uncover artifacts that drive its development.

The game builds upon the foundation of its predecessor, Airborne Kingdom, introducing several key improvements. These include a more refined combat system to counter the persistent threat of Sky Pirates, who will attack your city with anti-air batteries and boarding actions. A research system has also been added, unlocking new Lift, Morale, and Propulsion buildings, which enable better city management and improved maneuverability as you progress through the tech tree.

Airborne Empire Trivia

⚫︎ While not officially confirmed as direct inspirations, the flying cities and floating structures in Airborne Empire and its predecessor, Airborne Kingdom, share visual and conceptual similarities with iconic floating cities from pop culture, such as Dalaran in World of Warcraft and Airhaven from Philip Reeve's Mortal Engines series. What has been confirmed, however, is that the game's aesthetics were also inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Studio Ghibli's distinct aesthetics.
