The Thaumaturge First Impressions
Footage from the game shows turn-based combat, and story-driven adventure RPG elements. Expect directional movement, large 3D environments, skill point progression, and investigative exploration story-driven RPG games typically come with. It boasts a dark fantasy story set in Europe a century ago, filled with morally ambiguous decisions you have to make which affect the overarching story.
The sound effects and voice acting in the trailers sound great, while the graphics look very nice, especially in the cutscenes. The story is intended for mature audiences, and has its own unique touches to make it potentially stand out from other RPG games, provided they’re able to execute it well. We at Game8 can’t wait to try out The Thaumaturge once it comes out.
The Thaumaturge Plot
The Thaumaturge follows Wiktor, who has inherited the gift, or curse, of Thaumaturgy. It is a hereditary supernatural ability to sense, interact, and command Salutors, strange, powerful, and mystical beings. Wiktor returns home to Warsaw, Poland in 1905, and with the help of his childhood friends, supernatural powers, and keen perception, aims to locate and eliminate Salutors in hiding or possessing humans.
The Thaumaturge Gameplay
The Thaumaturge features RPG gameplay and turn-based combat. You explore and investigate Warsaw to look for clues, much like the main character does in detective movies. Throughout your investigations, you’ll be able to interact and build relationships with key people, and the dialogue choices and decisions you make will affect the overarching narrative of the game.
During combat, you’ll use your Thaumaturge powers to command the demons you have control over, while having the chance to deal with threats as Wiktor himself, like simply firing a pistol at someone. The exploration, investigation, and combat in this game all seem fun and complex, which we’re hoping to experience more of soon.

The Thaumaturge Official Story Trailer
The trailer shows a 2 minute video filled with gorgeous cinematic footage of the game. It features a voice-over from Wiktor’s sister, Ligia, who explains in a letter that it’s been ages since Wiktor has been back home to Warsaw. She then asks her brother to return home and reconcile with his father, who also has the power of Thaumaturgy.

This trailer features a 3 minute video filled with gameplay footage. It features a voice over from Wiktor, with a little bit of story exposition, mostly explaining his abilities. The trailer shows the exploration, investigation, decision making, and combat in this game.
